Q: How do I start the 30-day free trial?
Go to "Me" โ "Upgrade to Premium" โ choose Monthly or Yearly โ tap to start. You can cancel anytime during the trial without being charged. After 30 days, the subscription auto-renews at the regular price.
Q: How do I cancel my subscription?
iPhone "Settings" โ "Apple ID" โ "Subscriptions" โ find "Niannian Diary" โ tap "Cancel Subscription". You'll keep access until the end of the current billing cycle.
Q: How do I request a refund?
Apple handles all subscription refunds. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com โ find your Niannian Diary order โ choose "Request a Refund" and provide a reason.
Q: What's included with Premium?
Q: How do I delete my account?
In-app: "Me" โ "Account & Security" โ "Delete Account". After deletion, there's a 30-day recovery period during which you can restore your account. After 30 days, your data is permanently deleted following our standard process.

Q: Issues with Sign in with Apple?
Check that iOS "Settings" โ "Apple ID" โ "Password & Security" is working properly. If you changed your Apple ID, please contact us for help with data migration.
Q: How do I export my diary entries?
"Me" โ "Export Data" โ choose format. Free users can export TXT / JSON; Premium users can also choose PDF (for diaries) and CSV (for notes).
Q: Can I sync across multiple devices?
Yes. Just sign in with the same Apple ID on the new device. Diaries, notes, and pet growth progress (bamboo grove, intimacy, etc.) all sync automatically across devices.
Q: I got a new phone. How do I migrate my data?
Download the app on your new phone โ sign in with the same Apple ID โ data syncs automatically. No manual backup or restore needed.
Q: Can I turn off AI features?
Yes. "Settings" โ "AI Writing Settings" โ turn off. Once disabled, no content is sent to third-party AI providers, and basic recording features continue to work normally.
Q: Will my diaries be used to train AI?
No. We do not use your diary content to train our own AI models. For third-party AI services, we prefer providers that commit to not using API content for model training. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Q: Where is my data stored?
We prioritize Singapore and Asia-Pacific cloud infrastructure. See our Privacy Policy section 4.1 for details.
Q: How does Niannian's Bamboo Grove grow?
Writing a diary entry adds +3 bamboo points / day, and a quick note adds +1 / day (each capped at once per day). From 0 to 365 points, there are 6 stages (Waiting / Sprouting / Young Bamboo / Lush / Forest / Flourishing). After Flourishing, every +100 points unlocks a small decoration.
Q: When is the Monthly AI Recap generated?
Anytime after the 1st of each month, tap the โ๏ธ icon on the top right of the pet screen to generate last month's recap. Premium only.
